Q Where is my data kept?

A  This is not a Web Based Program (ASP), In those programs there is a Server (somewhere in the world) containing your deals and customers as well as other dealers customers, as much as they try to protect your information is subject to hacking and could also end up audited directly by government or litigation authorities.

Imagine thousands of private client's social security numbers accessed, credit card numbers etc. Who will be responsible for protecting their privacy? Try explaining a leak to your customers.

There are companies soliciting dealers to use their software over the internet.

You would completely give up control over this private and valuable information, one glitch and another dealer will solicit your clients!

Any government agency could produce a court order to your ASP software vendor to look at your records. Would know that it's happening? Would your ASP provider's attorney protect your interest or theirs?

With Lease & Loan Master your data belongs to you alone, you can save and destroy at will, You choose who you share your information with. At least, you know when anyone can look at your business data.
Your data will be in your PC's hard disk drive, you can back it up into CD's to last 100 years, you can erase and or modify without fear that copies are out on the world wide web.

Of course if you have a bad employee or a nasty virus, there is the possibility of theft, but it would be close to impossible to read without our program and you would be able to secure and at least know who to fire.

Additionally, ASP programs are difficult to debug and take longer to process information, they share processor resources and bandwidth, so they limit iteration abilities and program features to try to "feel" like they are running "local".
You would give up fast rollbacks and fast form printing, making your own forms and having custom features added.

A crew of "technicians" would be able to "watch" your closing techniques and your recaps at the end of each deal.

Not the case with Lease & Loan Master, with our program you are the one in total control.

Q How can I do a Zero APR Deal?

A  Put a 0.00 on the APR box, if the amount financed needs to be matched to the payments, select Tools and Zero APR Roll, the program will roll the payment to a rounded zero finance charge value, and give you options of where to place the remainder.

If you need to do an odd final payment it will end up as a balloon payment.

Q What about LA&H insurance on Zero APR?
A  Make the APR rate 0.0001, the program will zero out the rate and calculate the LA&H premiums.

Q How can I organize my Forms in Folders?
A  Use the Forms Explorer instead of Forms & Contracts, and right Click the Form and Choose Copy. You can create new folders and right click and Paste the copied form into them.

Q How can I see what the Form I'm using looks like?
A  Use the Forms Explorer instead of Forms & Contracts, and right Click the Form and Choose Open or Quickview, the Image of the form will be shown.

Q How can I Print More than one form at a time?
A  Use the Forms Explorer instead of Forms & Contracts, and simply drag the mouse over up to 18 forms, they will print in sequence. Or you can hold the Ctrl key down while selecting more than one form.

Q What kind of Printer do I need?

A  Any Windows Compatible Printer will work, If you need to print 5 part forms or Carbon paper Contracts you should use a dot matrix impact printer.

We do recommend the Okidata Microline for it's simplicity and low price.

Q How do I set up my Printer ?

A  You need to enable your printer to print 8.5 by 28 inch long paper:

 Windows 98

Double Click My Computer
Double Click Printers
Select the Printer You Wish to use
Right Click the Icon for that printer and choose Properties
Select the Paper Tab
Choose Custom Paper Size
Edit the custom size to 850 Wide and 2800 Long
Click OK
If you have an Unprintable Area button select it
Make sure Top & Bottom are both zero
Save the settings
Set this printer as the system's default printer.

Some DOS applications an some bad behaving Windows Applications will try to modify these settings... If that is the case you may want to install the printer again (so you will end up with 2) and re-name the one you will use with the Lease Master. They will both print to the same printer but will use different settings as if you had 2 printers.

Windows 2000 and Windows XP:

Get the 33 inch long Okidata Driver Here
The Folks at Okidata want to sell more printers, this is a special 33 inch long driver they made for us. Save this file to your pc, extract and add a new printer select that you have a disk and point to this folder.

Q- How do I save a deal ?

A -To save a deal in the Work in progress(Work.wrk) Folder simply choose File/QuickSave from the top menu of the Main screen. If you need to save a sold file you can do one of the following:

a - Choose File/Save and then click the Sold button and select Save on the Store Module.

b - Chose File/Save and then click the Sold button and double click the customer name and double click the quote you wish to replace on the expandable box on the right.

c - Choose File/Store MTD which will store you information in the Month to date files prior to saving the deal in the Sold files folder.

Q- How do I recall a deal ?

A- To recall a deal choose File/Open , this will display the recall module showing you the Drive and folders that are open, you can switch between Sold and working folders by clicking the respective buttons, the middle box will display the names and filter them according to the search instructions in the box above. when you find the customer you want you cam double click the name and the expandable box to the right will show you the quotes stored under that name. To recall the deal ; double click the quote.

You can also recall a deal by dragging the customer file and dropping it on the Lease Master Icon. This will recall the last stored quote for that customer. You can also change folders and disk drives to recall from your network or diskettes.

Q- How do I delete a Deal ?

A- If you want to delete the entire customer just press the Delete key on your Keyboard after selecting the customer name on the recall module, or you can delete the file from the "C:\Lease\Work.wrk" Folder directly by using the Explorer or File Manager.WARNING THIS WOULD DELETE ALL QUOTES FOR THAT NAME!

If you want to delete an individual quote you can use the Compare Module which will scroll through the quotes and choose which ones to keep and which to delete.

Q- How do I calculate Interest income on a purchase ?

A- Select Window/Sale Recap , Some of the boxes in the left column are preceded by a ":" those boxes can be edited in the recap module, they are:

Invoice,Markup,Warranty Cost,BuyRate, and Advance % or Points. Click the box you need to edit. If you are paid a percentage of the Interest rate difference between the Buy Rate and the APR used in the deal then enter the percentage amount (usually 75 or 100) in the "ADV%Pts" box. If you are paid Points (usually 1 or 2) then enter that number in the same box.

Q- Why is the Code box showing 2 amounts?
A- We have enhanced the code box to separate Front Profit from the Interest reserve income, now we show = FRONT/RESERVE This will help if the buy rate was not updated you will know something is wrong before its too late.

Q- How can I remove the forms I don’t need from the list?

A- Simply click them once and then Click Hide. (these settings will not be reset with a new update of the program).

A- Copy them to a diskette directly, first create a directory or folder in the diskette and copy the files to that folder, you should be able to store 700 customers in one 1.4MB diskette.
You can also copy the entire contents of the C:\lease\lesd.wrk and the C:\lease\work.wrk folders
Newer PC's now include cd writer devices and usb flashdrives, you can also backup your files by copiying them to them.

See the next question for entire file backup (settings, inventory and customers)

Q- What about Moving my Program from one PC to another?

These files may also be backed up into a CD ROM or Tape

A- Install the Program and all recent upgrades to the New PC first then you can copy the following files from one PC to the other.

We do not recommend copying the entire Lease folder since you will be replacing important programs from the registry.
All files that end with LMR   (*.LMR)
All files that end with RPT   (*.RPT)
All files that end with DEF   (*.DEF)
All files that end with INI   (*.INI)
All files that end with MDB   (*.MDB)
The MTD.DAT file
All files in the :\lease\lesd.wrk   Folder
All files in the :\lease\work.wrk Folder
All files in the :\lease\accts  Folder
All files in the :\lease\aaatext Folder
All files in the :\lease\Forms Folder
All files in the :\CBI Folder

If you re-installed Windows, this will require reinstalling the entire program, back up your data files first.

Q- How can I wave the Security Deposit or Bank Fee ?
A- Lease only Double click the Box and the program will check any rate changes.Your Bank name will no longer be displayed in the center of the Home Screen to indicate that Error control is no longer active.
A more permanent way of removing the Security Deposit is to remove it from the Bank Defaults Module, both the Sec Dep. Box and the Security Deposit Type Section (Select None).
In the Payment Round Up section it will round up to the nearest $50.00 Unless the Bank Menu Name begins with the letter G like GMAC. in the case of Menu names beginning with G the Security Deposit will round up to the nearest $25.00.

Q- How can I set up my network ?

A- Make sure the computers are visible when you click Network Neighborhood, or My Network Places. Computers Near Me.
On the Computer that has the Files (inventory and Customers) Double Click My Computer, right Click Drive C: select Sharing, and enable Sharing.
On the Computer that is the Work Station, double click Network Neighborhood, or My Network Places. Computers Near Me. and double click the Computer that has the files in it, Drive C should be visible now...

Now you should be able to see E: in My Computer as if it where a local drive.

On the Lease+Loan Master select File, Defaults, Defaults Module and enter E and the Files Drive in the Network Section, click save.
Select File, Defaults, Form Maker, type the letter you got (E) click save and type the filename Invent.def, click OK.

Q How can fix a connection problem with the Credit Bureaus?

Note: As Dial up connections became obsolete all credit bureaus have switched to internet based reports, To switch just send an email to reports@leasemaster.com
requesting the information and application.

A  Equifax, Trans Union and TRW Experian, are all undergoing improvements to their communications equipment, because of this it is possible your connection my be interrupted or erratic...
This is in some cases caused by them no longer requiring you to supress Error Correction as was the case in the past, this setting is in the Modem Setup section of the Defaults part of the Credit report module.
Follow the next steps to correct the problem:
1- Find our the Brand name and model of your Modem (Control panel, Modems)
2- Click Customer Information, Report, Click Defaults and the apropiate Bureau (TRW, TU, CBI)
3- Write down the Modem Setup String (AT&F......)
4- Contact your Credit Bureau, mention the Error you are getting and ask for an updated initialization string for your Brand and Model of Modem, you may have to explain that it was working well before and that you may need to re-enable error correction, that its possible the UUNET has upgraded the equipment you are connecting with and Error correction is now required.
5- Enter the new string they give you, Try not to make other changes.

Sometimes you may encounter a new untrained or lazy rep at the bureaus, we will be glad to conference with both to clear up any problems, just ask them to conference us in at any time.

Sometimes you may discover you are not subscribed with the bureaus directly and are using a reseller of services, this is not recommended since it impairs the level of support you receive and will sometimes feel they are trying to sell you another piece of software.

You may also benefit from our new web based credit reports, send an email to reports@leasemaster.com requesting an application, The credit report will run out of your cable or dsl internet connection.

Q How can I find a customer by portions of the VIN or first name etc?
Just click File, Open, specify the Sold or Working Folders and click the search button, type the item you are looking for and click Search.
The program will display the names of the deals that contain that word, simply click a name and recall that deal.
